Raised in the backwoods, Never seemed to do good; Couldn't seem to get along, Everything I did was wrong. 'Til I met this one gal; She became my best pal. When I'd get all jittery This is what she'd say to me; "Mellow out, take it slow. We got lots of time you know." Ran away in high school, Acted like a damn fool; Made a mess of everything. Had my butt right in a sling. Went back to my home town, Thought I'd take a look around. Saw her standing on the street Made my heart skip a beat She said, "Where you been? Come with me. We got things to do and see." We went on a road trip Deepening our friendship. Just took off and drove around, Saw the country up and down. Found a little town out west; A quiet place to decompress. She smiled at the scenery, Turned around and said to me; "This is where we're meant to be. Where we'll raise our family." Found a job with good pay, Took and gave the day by day. Bought a house outside of town Knew it's time to settle down. I got down upon a knee, Asked her if she'd marry me. Married on the fifth of June, Didn't need a honeymoon. She said, "Always knew you were the one. Let's stay here, it's much more fun." What a journey it's been; Married to my best friend. I'm just lucky she picked me; It's like I won the lottery. That's my story, now it's told. Stick with her until I'm old. Never thought that I would be Living life so happily. She said, "It was two, but now it's three. I'm as happy as I can be."
