I remember endless summer days; The morning's mystic, foggy haze. The shade beneath the redwood trees, Wildflowers alive with bees. The cold, cold waters of the creek; The sunsets viewed from mountain's peak. And most of all the starry nights In dewy fields away from lights. I remember sunny autumn days; Crisp mornings warmed by golden rays. New clothes, new shoes, return to school; New friends with which to act the fool. Football games we won or lost On evenings with a tinge of frost. The flowers gone, the browning grass; Remembrance of the summer past. I remember winter's misty rain, The tawny daylight on the wane. The low hung sun's bright amber beams, The salmon jumping in the streams. The wind that raged all through the night To topple redwood trees outright; The rivers running brown in flood; The trails that turned to sticky mud. I remember lustrous springtimes past; The greening of the world so fast! From coat and sweaters, gloves and boots To tennis shoes and swimming suits. The girls in fashionable attire Who lit young passion's burning fire. The promise of the school year's end, The wooing of a new girlfriend To spend each night in bitter bliss Anticipating our next kiss. I have no reason to repent These seasons that all came and went Each feat or woe or incident-- They measure how my life was spent.
