Nice one, Ernie. It reminds me of something my father-in-law said about a year back, before he died: “After a certain age, you constantly go to funerals until you become the guest of honor.”
I don’t know. But my when my grandfather used the term, I thought he was referring to singer Kate Smite, who had a TV show back in the early 1950s. Her show was on before The Howdy Doody Show and as soon as she began singing “When the Moon Comes Over The Mountain,” I knew I’d see Howdy & Co.

Yeah. Not quite there yet, but I'm at the age where my wife and friends and I are all burying parents, which is its own phase I guess.
Yeah. I'm right behind ya.
I hate thinking about death, but sometimes I'm wise enough to know its another beginning. Good work Ernie.
There’s the whole “memento mori” thing!
Thanks!

This is wonderfully penned! 🌸
Thank you!

Don't dwell on it Ernie. Remember Yogi Berra's wise words: "It ain't over, 'till it's over."
Who said, "It ain't over 'till the fat lady sings"?😂

😂 I thought it was a reference to opera...
Originally, it was.
