Something is amiss with Substack; I posted a whole comment below this that is not here today. :-/
Anyway, what I was trying to tell you is that when I was a nanny right out of college, I developed a personal practice of writing a sonnet a day during the baby's afternoon naps. Your post made me wonder if I have the bandwidth (and time) to try doing something like that again.
I have them all in a journal type book. They are almost all about family members, so I’m not sure how worth sharing publicly they are, but I’ll take a look… 😄
TBH, that was one of your best...it has a classic style, I've mentioned Robert Browning to you before, I think...and it has that same feeling, that mastery of language and ideas. Really nice Ernie.
Love it.
Sonnets are a favorite form of mine.
I tend to use the form a lot…I can probably publish a whole book of just my “sonnets of a sort.” 😂

Cool! Did you keep any? You could post them on your substack!
I’m not an everyday writer, despite being retired…my writing comes in waves (though I spend far more time editing and revising than in composing).

Wow, thanks, Rob!
thank you Ernie!
Methinks you did your thinking on this poem,
A sonnet can be difficult to rhyme
That writing can be hard, you’re not alone
Each word you eke out takes a lot of time!
Nice!😁
Love this!
Thank you!
... and ironically or not, this is one of your best. Wonderfully composed sonnet, Ernie.
Thanks, Mark! I appreciate that!
